How is this service free?
Poetry Realm is a free service that is run on advertising. There are a few small ads on every member/poetry page. By using these ads, we can afford to give away this service absolutely free.
Am I eligible for a Poetry Realm account?
Poetry Realm accounts are available to anyone world-wide, though all content must be written in English. There is no exception to this. See below for details.
What languages are allowed at Poetry Realm?
All content must be written in English. Advertisers seldom pay for traffic from non-English speaking countries. Without our advertisers, we couldn't make this service free, so we cannot allow poetry that isn't written in English.
I just registered poetryrealm.extension! Do you wanna buy it from me?
Sorry, but we aren't interested. We already own every domain in which we plan to use. Registering a variation of poetryrealm.com (for example, poetryrealm.biz) is a total waste of your money, so don't bother. If we wanted those domains, we would have registered them long ago.
What sub-domains do Poetry Realm directly control?
We do not directly control any sub-domain under the poetryrealm.com/.net domain. You should assume that every sub-domain under poetryrealm.com/.net and all, of any, domains that we currently or will use in the future are not under our control. We are not responsible for any content that appears on sub-domains we do not have control over.
Can I use the poems on this website for my own personal use?
The poems in this site are not to be used for any reason without permission by the author. You may not publish, broadcast, fax, mail, duplicate, photocopy, upload, download, transmit, distribute, or redistribute any portion of this website without prior written consent of the author associated with the writing you wish to use. You may, however, link directly to a poem without permission.
Are there any limits on the amount of poems I can have in my account?
There is no limit to the amount of poems you can have in your Poetry Realm account. Whether you have one or a million poems, you are free to add them all.
Can I have more than one account?
It's encouraged that only one account should be created per person, though a person can have as many accounts as they wish.
Can I hotlink files from your server?
You may directly link to a poem or to our search forms but you may not link directly to an image on our server, as this would slow our servers and drive up our costs.
Can I use your servers for storage?
No. If people used our servers for storage, then our resources would be used and banners wouldn't be seen. We make revenue with the banners; thus, if the banners aren't viewed, we couldn't possibly afford to pay for the resources used.
What is the file size limit for images used in member's profiles?
The maximum size for images is 25kb. To ensure that your image is small enough, make sure your image is in a .jpg, .jpeg, or a .png format.
Am I allowed to post pornographic material in the members section?
No. This is simply because our advertisers will not pay for banners hosted on a web page that shows anything that can reasonably constitute as pornography.
What are the guidelines for poems submitted for use on this site?
Poetry Realm believes in the First Amendment freedom of speech. Submitted poetry can be of any subject matter, regardless of its nature. All poems submitted must be listed in the appropriate category ie Children's poems should be list with "children's poems," et cetera. See the terms of service to learn about the prerequisites of listing a poem on this website.
What constitutes as misuse of the Poetry Realm website?
This service is for the use of sharing poetry to the millions of writers worldwide. It may not be misused, as described in the following:
You can not use your account to harbor material that may be questionable by law, or material that can harm oneself or any member of society ie Instructions on bomb-making or committing a crime. Suicidal poems are an exception to this rule, as the posting of such material is protected by United States law.
Poetry Realm is for poetic writing only. You may only post poetry and/or prose on the Poetry Realm website. You may not post stories, advertisements, journal entries, or anything else that cannot reasonably be considered poetry and/or prose.
Members may only post work in which they created unless the work was written as a collaboration in which case, the work should have the names of all writers stated in the poem's body. Posting poetry in which you otherwise did not write or do not own the legal registered copyright to is strictly forbidden.
