Tranquility

Take your heel:
ease into the quicksand.
no illusions; real slow.
just the soft water,
devoid of hard entrance.

Pick them up as they harden;
the footprints
and watch them deteriorate in your hand.

Look! Look away.
See the foreground settle
See the skyline erode
And see the quicksand wilt.
Wilt away, wilt away.
