The Mask

There he stands, silently, in the night.
Hiding in shadows, to stay out of sight.
He only comes out when the time is right.
Though he cannot be seen, I know he’s there.
I can feel his presence filling the air,
I can feel him staring with his eyes of ice.

Now, to me, he has come close.
His figure is strange. Could he be a ghost?
He wears for a face a mask of fear.
In front of me, he’s come to stand.
Gently, he gave out his hand,
As a cool wind whispered in my ear:

“Fear not, I’ve come from way long
To lead you to a path unknown.
It is time. For your time has arrived.”
I stood in silence for some time,
I couldn’t quite, make up my mind.
But it was clear, there was no time to decide.

So I stood up and took his hand,
As I slowly came to understand
That there’s no way to escape our fate.
“Come, let us go. Lead the way
For there’s no reason else to stay.
The mistake’s I’ve done here, I cant change.”

So, there we walked the path unknown.
To a place where I now call Home.
