It's Sad To Fall Asleep

I think its sad to fall asleep,
Cause no matter how hard we try, we never meet.
Even if we’re here, lying side by side.
When we close our eyes, we’re out of sight.

So what if you’re holding me in your arms real tight?
We’ll be lost in our own worlds tonight.
I won’t feel you and you wont feel me.
We’ll be lost in our own needs.

I won’t be able to feel your skin
Nor the warmth you have within.
And you won’t be able to touch my hand.
Cause we’ll be far, in a foreign land.

And you won’t be able to feel my heart.
Cause when we sleep we’re worlds apart.
We’ll be lost in our own utopia
In a place, which we wont know who we are.

We won’t be able to say what’s real or what’s a lie.
Or if we’re still alive, or if we just have died.
But one thing will be for sure to know
That we travel in our sleep alone.

If you feel like you have to cry,
Alone in your sleep, who’ll make things right?
I wont be able to hold you tight
Cause I’ll be lost in my own lie.

So, what is this sleep in which we all hide in?
Is it part of our lives, or a lie which we try to survive in?
I think its an abstract, an intermission.
A break from our worries, a book of fiction.

But still I believe
It is sad to fall asleep
It separates us. Maybe this you don’t know:
But even when we sleep together, we’re all alone.
