Romeo And Juliet In A Getaway Car
This is a story about a couple,
who was born to live and die for eachother.
This isn't a poem about the people you have in mind.
This is the story about Bonnie and Clyde...
She, a pretty girl, with a freckle-face
strawberry-blonde hair and a look of grace.
Favorite color - red.She liked all kinds of hats.
A creative writer with a flair for the arts.
Working as a waitress at the age of seventeen,
she knew that life had something more to give.
He, an attractive man, as women used to say.
Thick brown hair - at the style of the day.
The color of his eyes, matched with his hair.
Growing up in poverty with not much left to spare.
He became a thief, to make it through the strife.
He too knew life had much more to provide.
It was love at first sight, for both of them
when they met at the house of a mutual friend.
they talked well into the late hours
and continued for months to see each other.
It was plain to see that they shared the same dreams.
No matter the cost, they'd escape poverty.
So they both decided to go against the Law,
robbing banks and stealing cars.
killing the ones who wouldn't let them go far.
But they never really meant any harm.
They just wanted a life of freedom and rights.
To escape the bitterness of the Great Divide.
The law was always on their back.
It was clear to them, that their dreams wouldn't last.
They'd go all the way.For how long, it didnt matter.
They never worried 'bout anything else but eachother.
Time to time again, they risked their own lives
to protect each other from the difficult times.
But the angry Law swore to take them down.
They were closing in on them, somehow.
The time had come. They stood face-to-face.
and all hell broke loose on the 23rd of May.
Rat-tat-tat could be heard all around.
At the end, the two lovers lay dead on the ground.
The last two years of their lives, once they met,
were a whirly-gig. Highways that never end.
Dusty roads, the burn of rubber.
The stifled crampedness of one car after another.
Fast life. A die-young life.
And they wouldn't have traded it for a second try.
They were Bonnie and Clyde.
