A Cry In The Dark

There she’s lying on the floor.
Blood is on her hands and on her fingers.
And bruises on her body.
Though she can’t take it anymore,
Fear inside her always lingers.
For herself she’s feeling sorry.

Cause she cannot get away.
And even if she did, where would she go?
There’s no place for her to call “Home”.

So another bruise she tries to hide.
Another scream she tries to choke inside.

Cause every night it’s the same.
Drunk, as he arrives at home,
He, again, will beat her up.
She can see it on his face,
He thinks it’s a game, what he does.
It’s his way of expressing love.

Still, she wants to get away.
But if she does, where will she go?
She knows that she is not that strong.

So, another bruise she tries to hide.
Another tear she tries to keep inside.

Every night she prays,
For a chance to get away.
To feel the strength of courage, in her heart.
Instead of being a silent cry in the dark.

I wish her luck.
